The tax credit applies to those with a binding sales contract on or before April 30, 2011 and closed by June 30, 2011. This bill will help military personnel financially by also making mortgage payments tax deductible as well as stop the IRS from “recapturing” the $8,000 credit when service members are forced to sell or rent out their new homes because they’ve been deployed to a different state, duty station or country.
